Slow Down Economy

Mankind is always changing and ever adapting. But it never experienced something like this what it is facing now. It takes time to soak in the changes which our natural world gives us but we have added our bit as well to this input. The difference is that our bit is immense and happening too frequently these days. Obsolescence was never this quick in our world.

Just when we were thinking that we have got in terms with the industrial revolution, the technological revolution wave took over. Unlike other phases which come and go, technology is changing by the day.

Catching on this wave, many business rose, promising white collared jobs to many. To set up and run a business was never this easy. Moreover, a 24×7 job environment was also in place, reaching right to you anytime anywhere. Man hours increased, critical decision making improved, an emergency can always be taken care of immediately. The productivity got a shot in the arms and things looked really good. The initial thrust given by this was also essential considering pushing a completely new culture down everyone’s throat. But gradually, the burnout culture is coming in terms with its limitations. The weariness of the technological load crept into the people in the middle of it simply because we don’t respect it and use it for a long term cause.

Workers are gradually evolving and have started demanding their development holistically & not just in terms of salary. Now a days, in many levels we are hearing about conflicts between managers and workers regarding this. But the true leaders had the scent of this; many have made some far reaching changes in the management styles which is there for us too see in the companies of repute. The common knowledge which both of them understand is to increase quality productivity and rightly evolving with the times keeping the years ahead in mind. People who don’t understand this are actually discounting the future and burning themselves out.

In the chaotic world amidst technology, people are understanding that slowing down is the way to go by assimilating the innumerable inputs and finding a balance between the high velocity modern life and the ‘pre-revolutions’ age of living. Slowing down is the only sustainable and steady way to move forward in these times.

This is having consequences on business which are not ready to accept this or allow this change. They are having a hard time to please their employees and also in giving better deliverables to their consumers, leading them nowhere. When things are not set in place at the right time, good people set to leave which should the worst nightmare of any manager.

The new wave of thinking is growing by the day. The kind of holidays people are taking, taking yoga & tai-chi classes, increasing interest in meditation, stress on work-life balance and the kind of articles being shared on social media are glimpses that show how people are changing. After all, its exhausting to deal with the edginess of fast living.

We need to accept this new phenomenon which mankind has itself found to grow & evolve in yet another times witnessing great changes.

Where have all the employees gone!

Leadership crisis is looming nearly everywhere, that too from quite a long time now. The corporate sector is also witnessing it in a big way as well; be it a manager of any level, many requisite skills are hard to be found. On account of this, employees are sharing all sorts of sentiments like: getting poor mentoring from their seniors | condescending attitude from their managers | feeling of getting to nowhere | lack of control and even self responsibility, all of which cultivates a feeling to do away with the present way of life.

This feeling is palpable among so many people that you have number of movies, literature, advices and much more in the popular culture to feed these people with what they want someone to tell, to get that slight nudge, to take the step to liberation and start doing something of their own.

And they are doing it in an unprecedented manner. What were just signs to this have now themselves become an industry to nurture those stifled talents to make it big, on their own terms. The flourishing of organized events to bring out those budding ideas and give them a support, increasing VC presence, articles on every imaginable question sprouting in such minds covering impressive real estate in popular business magazines, videos on how to go about with your idea, et.al. Moreover, many of them are doing well. They get their team together, work on the idea they had, do things which they feel right (& the one’s adviced). But many a times the bug which initially hit themselves, comes against their way as well. Rather, the “Even I can do it” feeling would shore-up more in employees working in a start-up as they see an experiment unfolding in front of themselves.

This seriously makes you think that if everyone have their way to arrange for their own business considering the burgeoning industry which ensures you do that well (if you have that flair), who would actually work in an organizational setup, especially the real great minds who have all the more chances to do something good on their own who are a critical factor in any organization. ‘Who’ is a resounding word denoting an unknown noun which is becoming scarce.

So when the leadership is missing, so do the smart employees which is not a good thing to go with. We need to look at this situation closely as this is resulting in a choppy business climate ahead which no one wants.

If there is a true leader out there, things would be very different under that person. A leader (supposed to lead an organization of numerous people budding with skills, talents and aptitude), would steer the ship in a way which motivates each person to align themselves to the vision of the organization and make everyone prosper in that quest making sure that all the things which propels a person to seek that liberation are not getting even a thought by the happy workers. And those who are doing it, are making it big.
